The Official Domain Registry of the Philippines

Becoming a Registrar

1. I'd like to sell domains on my website without referring my clients to the dotPH site. Can I do this?
Of course. This is essentially what being a Registrar is all about. You can either:

  1. Use our Shared Registry System (SRS), which allows your clients to register their domains directly without ever leaving your site, or
  2. Get the necessary registration information from your clients and register on their behalf by logging on to our Registrar Tools.

2. Who can be a Registrar?
Anyone with a website and is interested in either:

  1. Selling PH domain names.
  2. Using PH domains to enhance the value of the products and services they offer to their clients.

3. What kind of money can I make as a Registrar?
It depends on what plan you use and how much you sell the domain for. The minimum prepaid purchase is only 20 domains at $26.25 each. Assuming you sell at $35.00, that's a 33% profit. For larger Pre-paid purchases, you can make 130% profit or more.

4. How do I become a Registrar?
Simply fill out and submit the Registrar Application Form. Once your application is approved and you have purchased a minimum of 20 Pre-paid domain credits, you are ready to go.

5. Is there some minimum volume required to be a Registrar?
An approved Registrar has to make an initial purchase of a minimum of 20 Pre-paid domain credits which can be paid via wire transfer, by cash or check payment.

6. I only need to buy 20 prepaid domains and I'm in?
Yes, that's the minimum initial prepaid purchase to become a Registrar. However, you are required to produce new domain sales consistently to maintain your status as Registrar. You also need to place the 'dotPH Registrar' logo on a prominent place on the front page of your website.

7. Can domain speculators apply as Registrars?
dotPH does not encourage domain speculators to be Registrars. The Registrar Program was created to produce distribution channels that could market and sell .ph domains on a regular basis to end-users. The program was not designed for speculators or those purchasing domains for their own use.

8. I'm not based in the Philippines. Is there a market for PH domains outside of the Philippines?
Definitely. PH is an unrestricted open domain, and may be purchased by anyone regardless of domicile. It is a functional equivalent of, and viable alternative to COM. Active dotPH Registrars include Register.com and Network Solutions Inc, the two largest domain registrars in the world.

9. How am I better off selling PH domains instead of COM domains?
You can make higher margins off PH domains. COM domains are available for as low as $8.00, leaving very little profit for Resellers. PH domains are also an excellent alternative for those whose desired COM domain is no longer available, or who wish to protect brands or trademarks across different namespaces.

10. If I sell PH domains, am I prohibited from selling other ccTLD or gTLD domains? Is there some kind of exclusivity clause?
No. You can sell other domains, as well as whatever products and services you offer the public. Our Registrars include some of the biggest domain registrars worldwide.

11. Do I have to use your Shared Registry System (SRS) in order to be a Registrar?
No. The SRS is a real-time, fully-automated way of registering domains. Implementing the SRS links you to our back-end, so your clients can register and pay for domains without ever leaving your site -- and have it reflected in our database in real-time.
However, you can register domains on behalf of your clients, and earn profits, by simply logging on to our Registrar site.

12. If my clients have problems with their domains, can they call you directly? Or must I support them first?
You should try to assist them first. Your clients have a direct relationship with you and will probably feel more comfortable discussing their difficulties with someone they know. If you are unable to resolve their problem, please feel free to turn to us for assistance.

13. How do I contact you if I have questions about the Registrar program?
You may send your inquiries to partners@dot.ph or click here for additional contact information.

14. I'm very interested in working with dotPH and I have some interesting ideas that I'd like to suggest. Whom should I contact?
Send your proposals to alliances@dot.ph and please include your full name, organization and contact details. We'll be sure to get back to you.
